Tarmac Surfacing for Rhinefield House Hotel, New Forest

Here is recent tarmac surfacing project completed for Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest, Hampshire.

There were x3 areas for which various works were required as detailed below:

Area 1:

  • Dig out to a depth of 350mm and muck away.
  • Re-lay 10 linear meters of set aside pointed top stone edgings to perimeter of new area where necessary.
  • Supply and lay 210mm type 1 crushed concrete and consolidate.
  • Supply and lay 100mm of 32mm road base macadam.
  • Supply and lay 40mm of 6mm SMA wearing course macadam.

Area 2:

  • Lift, clean and stack for re-use 54 linear meters of York stone pointed edgings from perimeter of roadway as discussed.
  • Break out, dig out and muck away area of poor surface water drainage to a depth of 350mm equaling 161m².
  • Construct 8m³ pre-cast concrete ring serviceable soak away with heavy duty inspection cover.
  • Re-construct 2no. roadway gullies and connect to new soak away.
  • Supply and lay 150mm type 2 crushed concrete and consolidate.
  • Supply and lay 60mm of type 1 crushed concrete and consolidate.
  • Supply and lay 100mm of 32mm road base macadam to prepared area.
  • Plain off necessary areas in preparation for new surface.
  • Supply and machine lay 40mm of6mm SMA wearing course macadam.
  • Supply hot jointing tar.

Area 3:

  • Key out and prepare area for new surface.
  • Extend roadway equaling 7.4m² into grass traffic island to remove car traffic damage to verge and make good.
  • Dig out grass/dirt area of car park damage by vehicular traffic to a depth of 350mm.
  • Supply and lay 150mm type 2 crushed concrete.
  • Supply and lay 60mm of type 1 crushed concrete and consolidate.
  • Supply and lay 10.5 linear meters of 9” road curbs to back edge of new area.
  • Supply and lay 70mm of 20mm base course macadam.
  • Supply and lay 100mm of 32mm road base macadam to prepared area.
  • Regulate areas between root damage.
  • Supply tacking tar.
  • Supply and lay 40mm of 6mm SMA wearing course macadam.
  • Supply hot jointing tar.
